The 2019 MATHCOUNTS Tuscaloosa Chapter Competition was held at the University of Alabama, on Feb 23, 2019. Thirty-one (31) students participated in the competition, from five middle schools, Eastwood Middle School, Greensboro Middle School, Northridge Middle School, Tuscaloosa Academy, and Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Middle. The event was a true collaboration among the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City School District, and local organizations and families. We thank the strong support and significant sponsorship from the Office of The University of Alabama Vice President for Community Affairs. We thank the full support from Tuscaloosa City School Superintendent’s Office to recruit schools.

1) Yiwen Wang from Northridge Middle School was awarded the Count-down Round champion.

4) 4th to 8th place: Veronica Robinson, Edan Eyal, Brian Jeong, Golden Zhang, Sophie Santander Lopez (Tuscaloosa Academy)
MATHCOUNTS Special Service Award
Special Service Award presented to Mr. Steve Nelko, Tuscaloosa Chapter President of Alabama Society of Engineers, for his volunteering service to promote math learning and to organize MATHCOUNTS competitions over two decades.
