2022 MATHCOUNTS-Tuscaloosa Collaboration Award
We are excited to announce the 2021-2022 MATHCOUNTS-Tuscaloosa Collaboration Award opportunity. The Collaboration Award is sponsored by the T-Town Friends, a private group of Tuscaloosa residents dedicated to supporting local STEM education. The objective of the award is to grow the local MATHCOUNTS chapter, to enhance math learning in local schools, and to support local schools for their participation in the MATHCOUNTS competitions.

We encourage middle school teachers to apply; see the application form at the end of this page. The details are listed below:
- Award amount: Each awardee will receive up to $350.00 as a cash reward.
- Collaboration: We invite the awardees to collaborate with MATHCOUNTS Tuscaloosa Chapter to prepare for the local competitions. Multiple professors and graduate students are available to support MATHCOUNTS coaching efforts with the awardee’s math team.
- Number of awards: Four. Two of the awards will be granted to schools that have previously participated in the MATHCOUNTS competitions. Two awards will be given to first-time participating schools.
- Eligibility: Local school teachers in public or private middle schools in the West Alabama region.
Proposal Requirements: The applicants should submit a short proposal (up to three pages including the resume) to outline their plan to collaborate with the MATHCOUNTS-Tuscaloosa with the required elements listed below:
- The applicant should lead a math team of at least four students. The applicant should provide the school name/address.
- The applicant is committed to registering for the 2022 MATHCOUNTS Chapter competitions, virtual (Feb 17, 2022) and in-person (Feb 26, 2022).
- The applicant is committed to collaborating with MATHCOUNTS Tuscaloosa to coach the math team. At least three coaching sessions should be conducted for the math team for the 2021-2022 year.
- The applicant is committed to attending the 2022 MATHCOUNTS award ceremony, where the award certificates will be presented.
- The applicant’s resume should be included.
Selection criterion: The award selection is based on both the quality of the proposals (if the listed proposal requirements are met) and the submission date (early submissions have a higher priority).
